Premio Faenza 2011. International Competition of Contemporary Ceramic Art.
Competition for the first time in 1938, the Competition of Ceramic Art in Faenza became international in 1963 and, in this specific field, the event which holds either the primacy of primogeniture and the ongoing life of longer duration.
Opening: Saturday, June 18, 2011, 18:00
A sign of vitality and a design adhering to the times gradually succeeded, the "Premio Faenza" is still today one of the highest awards ceramics worldwide. In previous editions of 2007 and 2009 it was decided to restrict the participation of artists who had not passed the age of forty in order to encourage the emergence and the face of the various ways in which we see the young Research contemporary ceramics.
World scene, as this is the frame of reference and attraction of the event, the ceramic fabric of contemporary art has a new relationship with product design, it was dissolved in conceptual installations, it is contaminated with other materials, has reconsidered its ancient vocations novel object and explored the frontiers of techniques and materials, to the virtual representations. Of this wide range of proposals are inevitably protagonists especially the younger generation. Without inhibitions, no precise geographical or cultural boundaries and without the weight of ancient or modern legacies disciplinary younger artists are giving signs of new directions and new possibilities.
The International Competition of Ceramic Art in Faenza has taken up this challenge cultural and even its fifty-seventh edition was reserved for young artists under 40. The International Competition of Ceramic Art will thereby be not only the sensor of a mutation in the act, but also the director of bearing contamination between forms of expression to search for new possibilities of relationships: from the work in ceramics or Polymaterials installation and video, from the artistic, the values of use and design, areas that are overlapping, without any thematic constraints. In order to encourage a growing confrontation between the various facets of the medium of ceramics and to document a landscape now irrepressible and versatile in a single view and one way the awards were significantly changed.
Faenza Prize, traditionally awarded to the winner of one event, is divided into three equal signals, while the premium remains for the students of schools and colleges devoted to searching for pottery. In this way, among them proposals antithetical to depart or programmatic intent and assumptions, may lay claim to the prestigious and stay alert to witness the extraordinary complexity of modern times. The purpose of this edition of the International Competition of Ceramic Art in Faenza is to contribute the most new and innovative proposals in the field of ceramic art and cultural event to offer this to the public during the international event organized by the Foundation of Ceramics International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza. On 7 May 2011, the Jury will be sent to the vision of the works and the awarding of prizes and awards Faenza minors.
